while studying molecular biology and genetics, begüm erciyas was introduced to contemporary dance through an amateur university contemporary dance group and started getting more and more interested in contemporary choreographic practice. with time she became involved in various dance projects in turkey. she was engaged in [laboratuar], a performance arts research and project group. after university, she studied at salzburg experimental academy of dance. she received the danceWeb scholarship in 2006. in 2007/08 she has been working in residence in Akademie Schloss Solitude, stuttgart, and WorkSpace Brussels. her recent works are margins (2005), Free Tryout Version (2005), circuits (2005), the convergence (2006), camera obscura (2006), sites (2007), Distilled (2008) and left (2008).
