[edit] Collaboration #6: Reflections on Sweet & Tender Work for Screen

Movement on Screen Festival in Manchester
on Wednesday 23rd of April at 14.30-16.00
http://www.movementonscreen.org.uk

A paper produced in collaboration by : Mariella Greil (S&T/s.a.f.t.), Pavlos Kountouriotis (S&T). The paper adresses the interaction between body-video-sound by focusing on work produced in artistic collaboration and production for screen-based media . After a short introduction to Sweet & Tender Collaborations we will discuss the erotics of a body in communication with camera, the resultant screen image and how sound renders the moves on screen. The paper adresses spectatorship theories and gender with a specific attention to the camera as a tool to stretch beyond boundaries and mediates a space for interaction object and live-event, object and audience and the inhabiting of those spaces. The camera as interface between performer, action and spectator makes a meandering move or shift of perception/perspective in order to build a kinaesthetic, narrative as well as digital epiphany.

The lecture concerns a presentation of the latest works of Sweet and Tender artists and deals with the following issues:
(a) The cannibal feminine in the post-horror film of Mariella Greil and Montserrat Payro (PVK),
(b) The look at the Camera and the construction of Ego-SuperEgo in "Pretons l'Oreille" SelfImage (PVK),
(c) Rethinking Documentary in the Digital Age: the Danceminute.com of Monica Gilette (PVK),
(d) Multiple Projection- Multiple Narration: when Japan and Brazil meet (MG),
(e) Deconstructing the narrative in the work of Pavlos Kountouriotis (MG),
(f) The Horror & the Masquerade in The Band by Lucie Eidenbenz (MG),
(g) Rethinking Collaborative Working Strategies: the example of Sweet and Tender (MG & PVK).
